Gheorghe Tattarescu (1818-1894) Romanian painter, pioneer of the Neo-classicism. He was a militant for the modernization of the Romanian artistic life, for the development of the Belle Arte School and for the foundation of the associated picture gallery; he starts a revolution in the mural painting of the churches, having occidental influences. He painted allegories and portraits.
