Memorial museum   "I.L.Caragiale"

The "I. L. Caragiale" Memorial Museum is one of the first museums organized in Prahova County and is due to the passion and efforts of the professor Nicolae Simache. It was opened in 1962 at the 50th anniversary of the great play writer’s death anniversary.

wpe7D.jpg (21133 bytes)   It is hosted in a building in the old center of Ploiesti, an architectural monument from the end of the 18th century, house of an old family – Dobrescu.
There are also a few furniture objects that belonged to Dobrescu family, which complete the exhibition with its beauty and originality.

The museum has a documentary collection from the important moments of the play writer’s life and work: his family (from were his inherited his passion for the theatre), school years in Ploiesti, the debut in journalism and the most important publications he worked for, affirmation in theatre and prose, his comedies and the drama "Napasta" which fixed his place in the Romanian theatric creation; reviews conducted by him or at which he was collaborator.
